Mooqfsh comes from a small town where rock-n-roll was the prevalent genre. After graduating high school, Mooqfsh moved to Orlando, FL and was immensely submerged in culture shock. He was first exposed to the EDM scene where he religiously attended Aahz every Saturday at the Beacham Theatre on Orange Ave. It was love at first sound. This was when he was also exposed to Goth and Industrial music. Back then, these two genres and “Techno” were played side by side. Mooqfsh grabbed anything he could get his hands on while in Florida. Upon moving to Virginia Beach, VA, he was befriended by Sid. Sid was an aspiring DJ that gave me the bug for DJing. Ever since then, Mooqfsh saved all that he could and bought his first Techs and a Vestax mixer. For a couple of years, Mooqfsh’s experience was nothing but a bedroom mixer. Eventually he started to play at house parties until his first gig at Flood. From there he joined WODU, Old Dominion University’s college radio station, and held a 2 hour radio show that showed off his likeness for breakbeat, house, and techno. During his DJ career, he has received many comments from seasoned DJs both locally and regionally. In 2002, Mooqfsh started Empyreal Productions to showcase local DJs and provide an environment for EDM seekers to chill and have fun. Mooqfsh took over Meltdown, a Thursday weekly, and was eventually handed Ohmz (aka Pulse), a Tuesday night weekly. A few weeks later, Mooqfsh was asked to join forces Marquis Productions and keep a long going weekly alive. This weekly has become to known as REVERB. During this year, he is focusing more on DJing and promoting his night, Reverb in Virginia Beach, VA. Mooqfsh loves music and it shows when he steps behind the decks. He likes to start out with soulful house and progressively get harder as his set goes on. By the time he finishes, he usually has the kids going nuts with techno! But, Mooqfsh’s sets do vary upon the crowd reaction and lineups for the night. He always tries to keep the crowd entertained and on their toes.
